The Great Smoky Mountains hold wonder and amazement in every square mile of the National Park and surrounding National Forests. For centuries the Smokies have been home to humanity and before that flora and fauna unique to these mountains and conditions. Since man has invaded these woods many felt life here was too hard and have left for flatter or greener actual pastures, but many remain in spite of the harsh terrain. What they find is that the Smokies offer an abundance not often found in North America; food grows in the wild here and the hunt-able wildlife is more than ample.
Alive and well today is the pioneering spirit of the early settlers to this region.
